FAQs

We understand that not everyone rents dumpsters all the time and that you may have a few questions.  Here are some of the popular questions many customers ask during the dumpster rental process with us.

  • Why should you choose Unhitched Dumpster?
No more back and forth phone calls and overpaying with the "big guys" - we make it easy! Call, text, or email to reserve a dumpster for your next project.
  • What can I throw away in my dumpster?
General household items, construction materials, carpet/flooring, roofing materials, furniture, and stuff you just don't need anymore are all accepted. Please reference our list of materials that are not accepted.
  • Is there anything I cannot throw into the dumpster?
Hazardous waste, asbestos chemicals, oils, fuels, pesticides, acids, paint cleaners or degreasers, radioactive materials, explosives, septic tank plumbing, raw sewage or sludge, semisolids, infectious waste, tires, refrigerators, air conditioners, TVs, or computer monitors.
  • How should I pay?
Easy! We prefer that you use our online checkout on our website where you can pay with a credit/debit card, but we also take company check. We can send you a preliminary invoice or accept payment over the phone before dropping off the dumpster. If you are paying in company check, initial payment will be due upon delivery of the dumpster. Please note that an additional invoice will be submitted to the customer post pick up for the weight of the waste disposed of - all waste/debris will be billed at $0.05/lb.
  • How much can I put in the dumpster?
As much as you want! Note that you cannot stack higher than the side walls of the dumpster and that you must follow guidelines on what is and is not allowed in the dumpster.
  • Will a dumpster damage my driveway or yard?
We do our best to accommodate all needs, but if you are particularly worried about certain areas of your property, then I highly recommend that you add our driveway protection plan to your reservation. Please note that Unhitched Dumpster Rentals is not responsible for any damages to the surface where the dumpster may be placed.
  • Do I need to be present when the dumpster is delivered?
Preferably yes. Unhitched Dumpster Rentals prefers an adult be on site to allow us to drop off the dumpster in a desirable location for the customer. If no one is available at the requested delivery time the dumpster will be placed in the most easily accessible location.
  • What happens if I exceed the weight limit of the dumpster?
At Unhitched Dumpsters, we strongly believe in fairness and transparency. Our pricing model is built on a ‘pay for what you use’ principle. If your load exceeds the dumpster’s weight limit, you won’t be charged a flat overage fee. Instead, you’ll only pay the additional cost for the extra weight based on the rates outlined under each of our dumpster offerings.
  • Is there a time limit for dumpster rentals?
Dumpster rental time is based on upon the selection of the customer when ordering their dumpster. After the initial period, a fee of $20 is applied for each additional day. This flexibility allows you to keep the dumpster for as long as your project requires.
  • Can I move the dumpster once it's placed?
We have a very strict safety policy against moving, pushing, lifting, pulling or altering the state of the dumpster after it is placed for any reason. Violators of this policy will be subject to a fine. If you need to have your dumpster(s) moved, please call us.
  • Can a dumpster be placed on the street?
Yes, in most cases, we can place your dumpster on the street. We are aware of the laws and ordinances of the areas we services and will handle all requirements necessary for your dumpster rental. No hassle with planning, leave that part to us.
